Walk SAT 5 – Hidden Quarries of Box Hill

View of entrance to Hidden Quarry

A circular walk exploring the quarrying industry and the quarries of Box Hill with wonderful views over the By Brook Valley.

The outward journey from Corsham walks along Pockeredge Drive and Spring Lane to Westwells, crossing quiet lanes and fields to Box Hill where an expert on the history of Box Hill quarrying will give a fascinating and informative talk.

The walk continues via the former RAF Rudloe Manor site, using rights of way through woodland and across farmland, including a steep descent and ascent through The Larches and up to Pickwick Lodge.

We return to the start point passing the still active Hartham Quarry on Park Lane and the site of the former entrance into Corsham Ammunition Depot.

Bring water and a packed lunch.
