Corsham Wanderers

In the autumn of 2008 a walk from Corsham to Lacock led to the founding of the Corsham Wanderers. An invitation to join me on this ramble was placed in Corsham & Box Matters magazine and, much to my surprise, 17 walkers attended! After rambling with groups in Wiltshire and Bath I wanted to see if Corsham could support my ambition of starting a walking group here, in my home town of over
70 years. At this early stage I was the only walk leader and the group walked every two months, giving me time to recce each ramble. After a year a few members kindly volunteered to lead, and to this day we encourage and mentor new walk leaders for our regular monthly walks.
Wanderers on Tour

The group has enjoyed eleven annual holidays in the Lake District. The photo is of the inaugural party of 3 back in May 2009 (when we were young!)
Our wanderings have included a weekend in the Peak District and day trips to Exmoor, the Brecon Beacons, Lulworth Cove and Studland.
14 of the group enjoyed a wonderful holiday in Praia de Ancora, Portugal in September 2022 with great walking, dining and wining!
In the Autumn of 2023, 2024 and 2025, the Wanderers enjoyed holiday adventures in the Shropshire Hills, Exmoor and the Isle of Purbeck staying in Church Stretton, Lynton & Lynmouth and Swanage respectively.
Join In

We are a very sociable, friendly group and welcome all newcomers to join us on our free monthly walks – normally on the 3rd Sunday of each month in the beautiful countryside near Corsham, and beyond in Wiltshire and Somerset.
All of the walks finish in a pub or café for refreshments and a social chat. A great way to finish the day!
A bi-monthly newsletter is emailed to all the Wanderers every 2 months. Click to view the latest newsletter.
Please email petesmith11ok@gmail.com if you wish to subscribe to receive the e-Newsletter and other notices regarding the confirmation of walks.
