Corsham has provided the backdrop in numerous films and TV dramas including The Suspicions of Mr Whicher, Tess of the D’Urbervilles, Larkrise to Candleford and The Remains of the Day.

Most famously, Corsham became 18th Century Truro for BBC One’s Poldark, starring Aidan Turner. As you can see, the town looked very different.

The walk goes down Valley Road towards Potley Bridge and the location of the former stone holding area known as Tramways. Turning down Pockeridge Drive we pass the manmade Pockeridge Lake.

Following paths and minor roads we pass through Moor Hill, Neston and on towards Neston Lodge where we follow the minor road to the entrance of Neston Park.

After our informative tour of Neston Park, we head back north to Neston Lodge to follow bridleways past the still active Park Lane Quarry and on to The Ridge.

On paths we pass on the right Monks Chapel and onto the Lineys.

Entering a residential area we pass through The Batters once the training ground for WWI troops we finally pass the Almshouses and weave our way back to the start via South Avenue and the High Street the location of many films.
