Heritage Open Days

As part of our affiliation to the Walkers are Welcome (WaW) network, we promote all things related to walking and the local area and last year we supported the Corsham Civic Society with their National Trust (NT) Heritage Open Days.

WaW have again asked Affiliated Towns to support the NT Heritage Open Days that goes from the 6th to the 15th September. Their website can be found at: https://www.heritageopendays.org.uk/

The programme of Heritage Open Day activities in Corsham and Box can be found in this leaflet.

Supported by a number of the Corsham Walking Festival Walk Leaders and local historians we are putting on four FREE walks that are listed below with a link to The Pound Booking System.

Three Chapels Ramble, 8th Sept, a gentle 7.5 miles, starts at the Corsham Pound Pill Primary School, SN13 9YW, at 9:30am. Visits Chapel Plaister, Monks Chapel, and the Lady Margaret Hungerford Almshouses:

Although not a walk as such, there is a talk being given by John Chandler on Corsham’s Legacy of Lost Highways. By examining historic maps, but also the surviving features along our lost and current roads, it is possible to explore the network of communications that has enabled Corsham as a community to thrive, and its inhabitants to move around. Talk takes place at The Pound on the 11th Sept at 2:30pm.
