The walk climbs out of Bradford on Avon to reveal magnificent views of Westbury White Horse and Salisbury Plain. On reaching Westwood, the route descends to Farleigh Hungerford Castle, then onto Iford Manor and Freshford before returning via the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Rising out of the Town to the South the walk starts to reveal th extensive views out over to Salisbury Plain. We skirt by the Manor House at Westwood to pass the Medival Village Site of Rowley before descending down into the River Frome Valley to visit the Castle at Faleigh Hungerford.

Following the River Frome upstream along the Macmillian Way we detour into Iford Manor before finding our path again along the river passing by Friary and through Friary Woods to Dunkirk Mill, a 18th Century Woollen Mill.

On into Freshford and our lunch stop, we continue across the meadows to follow the River Avon upstream through the Avoncliff Woods to Avoncliff where the Kennet and Avon canal crosses the river and railway line via the Avoncliff Aqueduct, which was built between 1797 and 1801.

The walk continues along the River Avon through Barton Farm Country Park past the Packhorse Bridge to the impressive Tithe Barn dating back to 1300. And the finish.
